Oh my goodness, I love this time of year!  It's my birthday month with crisp air and the colors are so vibrant.  Our yoga room opens to a beautiful view of geese, ducks and beavers and the magnificent glow of the changing scenery Fall brings to a serene pond (check out our classes). I cherish these moments of peaceful bliss when I am travelling, cooped up in transport with many others affected in different ways by the change of season.

Bike Yoga - by Pamela Hunter

Have you ever combined your bike ride and yoga?

The other day I was riding my bike with my husband on our usual path from the house.  We can ride on the roads in the neighborhoods for a while before we turn onto a prairie path.  The trail this time of year is full of amazing foliage and flower, a variety of vivid greens and yellow goldenrod in bloom wave with the wind.  Every once in awhile a purple burst of flowers popped up to say hello and balance the wheel of colors.  We have been riding th…

Self-Care: The Circle of Life - by Pamela Hunter

selfcare

A woman with bright eyes, smiling face, and a giggle came through the door at Living Well Cancer Resource Center.  She walked with a mission and a cane, remarking that she is always late wherever she goes.  Her mission was to wparticipate in the 3-day Self-Care Workshop – Foundations of UZIT (Urban Zen Integrative Therapy).

“I got you, girl!” I greeted right away, and helped her find her space.  Supporting her as she joined our introductory circle of sharing without having to do the typical reg…

green-smoothie

I believe in looking at your lifestyle choices and making sense out of them.  I also believe in bringing awareness to our daily nutrition.  I call this Nutritive Awareness.   I believe we must consciously feed nourishment to our bodies in many forms.  Through observation it is rare to see people eat veggies at breakfast.  Through experience, it is a challenging shift to begin loving your veggies at breakfast.

Riding with Unexpected Surprises - with Pamela Hunter

riding

Riding my bike from my house around the Prairie Path and back home is my exercise and enjoyment in these warmer months.  It takes me about 1 hour to ride 12 -15 miles.

To get to the path, I ride on the streets and sidewalks feeling all the different terrains as the pavement changes sometimes in big surprising ways.  There is fresh, black pavement, ridged pavement in transition, and squiggle patches on grey pavement.  The edges of the streets often have extra gravel, sometimes-bigger rocks and s…

Fun Lovin' Feet - by Pamela Hunter

feet1

We stand on our feet everyday!  Do you take care of your feet, your foundation?  When I showed up at my first yoga class back in 1998, my feet were not the best looking foundation.  I had really narrow feet with bunions and my pinky toe hugging the next toe very tightly.  It was an issue in my shoes, in standing long periods of time, in my walking and posture.  My yoga teacher gave me the tips I am sharing with you now in this video.  I did the work and now I have YOGA TOES - they look like they…

Ocean Breathing with Essential Oils - by Pamela Hunter

ocean

The time in the evening after dinner and before bed is a Divine time to do self care and be in your own light energy.  It is in this time where you can release the day and move into the night with peace.

Ocean Breathing is soothing and comforting to our body as it allows the mind to only focus on the breath and the movement of our air up the body as a wave moves up the beach.  When you couple this breathing with essential oils, the brain feels the frequency even stronger!
